Pelican Broadband is excited to spread our wings and expand our fast and reliable fiber optic network to new communities! Between 2026-2028, we plan to expand services to 1,300 residents and businesses in Coushatta, Hagewood, and Provencal.
Bridging the Digital Divide
We are proud to announce our award through the State of Louisiana’s GUMBO 2.0 (Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities) program. This funding will allow us to provide reliable, high-speed internet access to 1,300 residents and businesses in Coushatta, Hagewood, and Provencal.
$5,363,585 for 1,232 Locations
Approximately one-third of Louisiana’s population have lacked access to high-speed broadband at one time. By leveraging this federal funding to develop and implement innovative solutions, Louisiana is committed to providing broadband access for all. Louisiana has received a combined investment of more than $430 million in broadband infrastructure and continues to gain momentum deploying internet access to more than 115,000 additional locations.
If you currently receive assistance from the federal or state government, you may qualify for a monthly credit of up to $9.25 on your bill through the United States Government Lifeline Program. Pelican Broadband is not responsible for determining who qualifies or who will receive assistance. Customers must meet specific, pre-determined regulations to obtain assistance. You may be eligible for Lifeline based on one of the following:
Program Participation (SNAP, Medicaid, etc.)
Income
Survivor of Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking, or Related Crimes
You can also get Lifeline if your child or dependent participates in a qualifying program.

Backed by the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, GUMBO 2.0 is Louisiana’s plan to expand reliable, high-speed internet access to unserved areas across the state. With more than $1.36 billion in BEAD funding awarded to Louisiana by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Louisiana aims to help close the digital divide by 2028 with internet and fiber connectivity to 140,000 new locations.
